We recently embarked on a two week cruise from Reykjavik. Since we needed to fly into Iceland before cruising, we decided to check out the city of Reykjavik.
We started our adventure by checking into our hotel. One of the many Center hotels in the City, the Center Hotel Laugavegur. This hotel is one of the most popular streets in the city. It is very difficult to pronounce and my husband and friends decided to call it “Lego Vegas.” The location was perfect and they let us check in early. Since we arrived at 7:00 am, it was much appreciated. The hotel is lovely and includes breakfast but I have to say, the rooms are very small. Very European but for three days, we wished our rooms were bigger. https://www.centerhotels.com/en/hotel-laugavegur-reykjavik
Soak in the fresh ocean air, the sounds of distant wildlife, the sensation of warm geothermal water and the captivating views beyond the shoreline from the 70-metre infinity edge of the lagoon.
Sky Lagoon has everything The Blue Lagoon has and more. What it does NOT have is the crowds. Plus it is close to the city.
3 Hr Foodie Adventure Walking Tour with Jenny
Jenny, an NYU student during the school year, walked us all over town and told us stories of history and she took us to several amazing restaurants, starting with breakfast and ending with dessert. My favorites were the Icelandic Skyr (yogurt) and the fish mash. Yum! I booked this tour on Viator but I also use Get Your Guide as a tool for adventure.
We had some time after the food tour so we did the Fly Over Iceland ride and we experienced the Perlan Wonders of Iceland museum with a film of the last volcanic eruption, lots of exhibits and a “cool” ice cave.
Golden Circle Full Day Tour with Kerid Crater
What Is the Golden Circle?
The short answer is that the Golden Circle is a scenic route between three beautiful natural attractions in Iceland. The main Golden Circle attractions include:
Instead of driving back and forth from Reykjavik the same way, people typically drive a short circle that’s just under 140 miles (230 kilometers) in length.
The Golden Circle shouldn’t be confused with the Ring Road, an 828-mile (1,332-kilometer) drive encompassing the entire island of Iceland. The latter can take several days to a week to complete.
The four of us, Susie, Bob, Beth and Mike had a BRILLIANT time in Reykjavik and we hope you all get a chance to visit if you have not already been
